10th Research Postgraduate Symposium
Saturday, December 3, 2005, Faculty of Medicine Building

Introduction

The Research Postgraduate Symposium (RPS) was first introduced in 1996 to provide a platform for research postgraduate students to present and share their exciting ideas and progress in research. It aims to promote academic interaction and intellectual advancement among students and teaching staff. Through active exchange among presenters, Chairpersons, supervisors and fellow students, it is hoped that students will benefit from the dynamic and stimulating environment of biomedical research in the Faculty.

The RPS to be held on December 3, 2005 marks the 10th anniversary of this important annual event of the Faculty. The Symposium will be divided into 5 parallel sessions which are broadly based on the strategic research themes of the Faculty, namely, Cancer, Healthy Aging, Infection & Immunology, Public Health and Reproduction & Development. Prominent researchers from overseas as well as Faculty members in the relevant fields will be invited to be Chairpersons of the parallel sessions.

One MPhil/MRes(Med) presenter with the best performance in each session will be selected for the award of the Certificate of Merit, and one PhD presenter with the best performance in each session will be invited to make a second presentation at the Plenary Session. Finally at the Plenary Session, a panel of adjudicators will select one PhD presenter for the Best Presentation Award.
