The Law and Technology Centre of the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) held a one day symposium today (September 4, Tuesday). The Symposium brought together local and international scholars, regulator, non-governmental organizations, social workers and youth to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue.
The symposium provided a platform to examine cyberbullying in Hong Kong and explore different measures to address the problem of cyberbullying, including legal and regulatory reforms.
Findings of two studies, including one on the attitudes of more than 2,000 Hong Kong high school students on personal data exposure, were presented at the symposium. The studies are within a General Research Fund project "Tackling Cyberbullying by Enhancing Privacy Protection: A Comparative and an Interdisciplinary Study" (http://hub.hku.hk/cris/project/hkugrant118304) led by Professor Anne Cheung, Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.
