-The Chicago Tribune
"In a few years’ time, the Geneva Camerata has earned itself great reputation, name and identity"- Le Temps
Winner of both the Sibelius and Tchaikovsky Competitions, Viktoria Mullova is highly regarded as a violinist of exceptional versatility and musical integrity. This June, she will join the captivating ensemble Geneva Camerata (GECA) in presenting an uncustomary programme wittily compiled by David Greilsammer, their young and talented music director.
The audience will hear Mullova's virtuosic technique as well as matchless interpretative subtlety on Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Other programmes include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8, Jonathan Keren’s composition based on Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and his orchestral arrangement of Debussy’s Fireworks. This will surely be one of the most exciting concerts of the year!
Before the concert, conductor David Greilsammer will engage in a conversation with Prof. Daniel Chua (Chairperson, Department of Music, HKU) to share with us his musical career, passion, as well as the unique creative philosophy behind his heralded concert programmes. Free admission – separate registration required at www.muse.hku.hk.
