THE CONSTITUTION OF THE PPAA
Being one of the most active societies in the University of Hong Kong, the Politics and Public Administration Association SSS HKUSU (PPAA) has a unique mission to advance public interest through changing political apathy into awareness, motivating people to critically think about what positive impact they could bring as citizens in local and international systems of governance, and nurturing students to be leaders of high calibre who are concerned with serving the society uncompromisingly. Founded in 1973 as the Hong Kong's first student-led society focusing on the study of global and public affairs, PPAA has emerged into one of the most successful of its kind in the region. Today, having strong links with the community and serving as the official student representative body of the Department of Politics and Public Administration, PPAA promotes free exchange of diverse ideas regarding compelling issues ranging from global democratisation, transnational terrorism, and nuclear proliferation to human rights issues, Cross-Strait relations, and constitutional reform in China, and many more. Every year, PPAA organizes a huge variety of current public affairs forums, panels, exhibitions, debates, and social activities for its members, HKU students and alumni, and the general public. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES
The Office-bearers of the Executive Committee possess power only second to the General Meeting of the Association. Annually elected by full members, the executive committee is responsible for the implementation of the Constitution and the resolutions of the General Meeting by organizing events and formulating policies to achieve the Association’s objectives.
