HKU wins back-to-back University Sports Federation Men's Badminton Championship

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) defeated Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) by 3:2 to successfully defend their championship title in the USFHK Men’s badminton competition, which they won for the first time in 30 years in 2021.

The final match was held at the Chu Hai College Indoor Gymnasium on 25 June 2022. Former HK Junior representative and HKU Sports Scholar Joshua Wang Che clinched the final singles match to accomplish our intercollegiate title defense.

The team had produced a stellar performance this season without a single defeat en route to the final.

“All the teammates prepared so well for the tournament with a comprehensive training plan from their expert coaches from day one”, said Dr. Michael Tse, Director of the Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE). “We are very proud of their dedication and efforts.”

The badminton team members had showed their resilience and courage throughout the competitions, and their impressive victory not only boosts the morale of their own team, but also HKU teams of other sports.  CSE will continue to spare no effort to nurture HKU’s athletes and take their performance to the next level.
