Fung Ping Shan Building is located next to the University's main entrance on Bonham Road.

This three-storey red brick building was opened in 1932. It was a gift from Mr Fung Ping Shan, who was a co-founder of the Bank of East Asia. During the early days, the building was used as the University's Chinese library. This "Fung Ping Shan Library", as was called, is now located in the Main Library.

In 1953, the building was converted into the Fung Ping Shan Museum of Chinese Art and Archaeology. With its extension to T T Tsui Building in 1996, the Museum changed its title to the University Museum and Art Gallery.

Throughout the years, the Museum has received support from donors, artists, collectors and the University. Its collections have grown to over 1,800 objects including Chinese antiquities, notably bronzes, ceramics and paintings. If you drop by HKU, you are most welcome to visit the Museum, which is open free of charge to the public.
