At its meeting held on March 20, 2012, the Council resolved, inter alia, to adopt the recommendations of the Ad Hoc Group on the search and selection mechanism for the next Vice-Chancellor, inclusive of the setting up of a 4-member Search Committee and an 11-member Selection Committee with their respective role and responsibilities and membership composition.

 

In pursuance of the Council’s resolution, the elections of three full-time senior professorial Teachers at Chair Professor level (comprising full-time Chair Professors and Professors with Chair title), one from each of the 3 cognate Faculty groupings, to fill the membership categories of the Search Committee had taken place.  The membership of the Search Committee for the Next Vice-Chancellor is as follows:-

Professor Y. C. Richard Wong	(Arts, Social Sciences, Education, Business and Economics, Law and including the Kadoorie Institute and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences)
Professor C.M. Che	(Engineering, Science and Architecture)
Professor Kathryn S.E. Cheah	(Medicine and Dentistry)

 

Subsequent to a tendering and selection process, the Search Committee has appointed Korn/Ferry International (HK) Ltd. as the search agency to assist with the Vice-Chancellor search exercise.  Arrangements have been made for the Vice-Chancellorship to be openly advertised locally (in the South China Morning Post on May 26 and June 2, 2012) and internationally.
