The process for recruiting the University's fifteenth Vice-Chancellor to succeed Professor Lap-Chee Tsui is currently underway.

Being a research-led comprehensive university that is recognised worldwide for its academic and research excellence, this undertaking of HKU will involve a global search for a distinguished candidate to lead the University and further enhance its international reputation.

On November 7, 2011, the University Council established an Ad Hoc Group to consult staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders on the processes and criteria for the search and selection of the next Vice-Chancellor.

On March 20, 2012, the University Council accepted the recommendations of the Ad Hoc Group on both the process and criteria for the search and selection.
