Welcome to the Department of
Nursing Studies, The University of Hong Kong, where we offer dynamic
opportunities in academic study and leading edge nursing research.
The Department was established in 1995 and rapidly enjoys a
reputation for excellence in teaching, research, and clinical
practice.
The Department has a strong mission to educate nursing leaders for
the community. One of the strengths of the Department is its
innovative curriculum responding to the health needs of the
population. Currently, more than five hundred students are enrolled
in the undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral programmes. Our
goal is to provide a challenging and holistic nursing education that
will prepare our graduates to become leaders of the profession and
make a difference.
The Department of Nursing Studies has well qualified teaching staff,
many of whom earned reputations of excellence in teaching and
research. We are at the forefront of nursing research in Hong
Kong and committed to generating and disseminating knowledge to
advance the practice and discipline of nursing, and to improve the
health of the community.
In
addition, the Department has strong links with top class university
schools of nursing internationally enabling academic exchanges and
research collaboration. We also have close links with different
health care settings in Hong Kong, and in particular, the University
of Hong Kong Medicine Center, Queen Mary Hospital, which is a
leading hospital in Hong Kong providing students with a cutting edge
learning environment.
