In Sound, Forever: A Special Study Presentation by Valeria Riquelme

Music Library Lecture Room, 11/F Run Run Shaw Tower,
Centennial Campus, HKU
2 MAY 2024 | THU | 5PM

This Special Study Presentation is an ode to those who have crossed Valeria's path while at HKU Music, covering her journey of sonic discovery, a fireside chat with her artistic collaborator Reggie Yip, and a showcase of Valeria’s final work.

Valeria is a final-year Music Major at HKU. She was born in Mexico but call Hong Kong home. As a seeker of poetic connections, Valeria believes that we are least aware of what we need to express the most, and thus it is through researching what we are curious about that we find our vision. In her work with film (For Her, 2021) and theatre (A Woman on the Moon, 2022), Valeria has found herself gravitating towards projects with a strong sonic element. This Special Study project provided the first opportunity for her to get hands-on and fully immerse herself in the world of soundscape design.
