Rick Glofcheski, a Canadian, obtained is BA and LLB in Canada, and LLM at Cambridge University, England. He practised law in Canada, mainly in civil litigation, for four years. He joined the University of Hong Kong in 1989. Primary areas of teaching and research are tort law and labour and employment law. He has taught in criminal law, contract law, legal system, and medical law. He has been a member of both the Editorial Board and Editorial Committee of the Hong Kong Law Journal since 1993, and is currently Editor of the Hong Kong Law Journal. He is past Head of the Department of Law (1996-99). Rick is the author of Tort Law in Hong Kong (Hong Kong: Sweet and Maxwell Asia, 2nd edn, 2007, 735pp). In 2004 he was appointed University Teaching Fellow, in recognition of outstanding teaching and contributions to the advancement of teaching. In 2009 Rick won the university's Outstanding Teacher Award.
