Eagle Claw

History is the Art

 It is said that the style of Eagle Claw originated from the Sung dynasty. It's predecessor, the 108 eagle hands, was founded by the patriot hero Yue Fei to fight off the Jin Army.

             During the mid-Qing era, the practitioner of the Eagle Hands was the monk Li Quan. Before, was expert the skill in Faan Tzu style. Seeing the techniques within Eagle Hands as being so magnificent, he practiced and mastered it also. Afterwards, he united the two into one single fighting system forming the Eagle Claw style as we see it today.  Later on, he passed the art down to two other monks named Dao Ji, Fa Cheng and they in turn passed the art down to Liu Shi Jun of Guzhuangtou Village, Xiong County, Hebei Province. After learning it, Liu Shi-Jun trained constantly and eventually becoming a master of this style. He then journeyed through the land. Meeting new friends and stretching he horizons. He spent his entire life devoted to martial arts, both training and teaching. His fame stretched throughout the realm, gaining him the nickname "Xiong County Liu". His preferred weapon is a twelve feet pole. Something which was respected and admired by all. In the martial arts community, also gained the name "Daganzhilui" ( Big Pole Liu )

 As the instructor of the imperial guards for many years, some of his close disciples includes Liu De-Kuan, Ji San, Ji Shi.  As he ages, he passed all his skills to his nephew Liu Cheng-Yau. After gained the skills, Cheng-Yau went on the passing them to his son Liu-Wen and nephew Chen Ji-Ping.

              Chen Ji-Ping, also named Zi-Zheng, was a strong man who did not speak much. As a child, he loved martial arts and was fortunate to be able to have the chance to learn from Liu De-Kuan. Zi-Zheng used the techniques his predecessor¡¦s Yuezi-lianquan and incorporated the fundamental skills of Faan Tzu, together with actual experience of usage, he reorganized 108 eagles hands many times. Finally, he developed the unique " Yingzhou-lianquan" and  " Yingzhou-xingquan ". Also, establishing the school of Eagle Claw. During his middle ages, Zi-Zheng was requested to be instructor in many areas. Including Helungjiang, Shanghai, Hanhau, Canton, Hong Kong and Singapore. He was also once the vice-chairman of the Chinwoo Athletic Association with the title " King Of Eagle Claw ". Zi-Zheng has his own ways of teaching. He never hides anything. In those days, people who were able to receive the skills of this master included people like Chen Guo-Jun, Chen Guo-Qing, Chen Guo-Xian, Bao Xi-Yong, Liu Huang-Chi, Zhuang Shu-Qing. As for Hong Kong and Guangzhou, there are Li Tiao-Wen, Leung Zi-Peng, Zhuang Jing-Zhai, Li Pei-Xian, Li Ming-De, Chen Zhan-Pwu and Zhuang Jun-Ting.

              There is over a hundred years of history behind the style of Eagle Claw. There are practitioners to this very day. During the early days of the republic, it was made famous by master Chen Zi-Zheng and numerous people practices in the present day.
