Dr. Wong is a local graduate from the Croucher Laboratory of Environmental
Hydraulics. He has been working on the research project "Dynamics of Algal
Blooms and Red Tides in Sub-Tropical Coastal Water' and obtained his Ph.D.
degree in 2005. His Ph.D. thesis "Red tides and algal blooms in subtropical
Hong Kong waters, field observations and Lagrangian modeling" has been awarded
the Zhu Kezhen Prize by the Hong Kong Meteorological Society for its insight on
relating algal bloom events with meteorology under a simple mathematical
framework. In 2006, Dr. Wong was awarded the Croucher Foundation Post-Doctoral
Fellowship for his research proposal "Eutrophication dynamics in Hong Kong
waters - water quality modelling and data assimilation" and proceeded further
research in the Deltares (WL/Delft Hydraulics), the Netherlands. In 2008, Dr.
Wong returned to the Croucher Laboratory of Environmental Hydraulics and is currently
working as project manager for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust funded
project "WATERMAN ¡V Water Quality Forecast and Management System for Hong
Kong".
