Microsoft has announced that Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) by August 2021.

Here are some key timelines to highlight in regard to the retirement of IE11 and Edge Legacy:

• Beginning November 30, 2020, the Microsoft Teams web app will no longer support IE 11.
• Beginning August 17, 2021, the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11.
• After March 9, 2021, the Microsoft Edge Legacy desktop app will not receive new security updates.

For users using IE 11 to access Microsoft 365 apps and services, or using Microsoft Edge Legacy as their preferred browser, Microsoft recommends using the new Microsoft Edge and offers a range of support options to help transition. For accessing applications dependent on legacy IE 11, users can use the Internet Explorer mode all housed within the new Microsoft Edge (with an integrated Chromium engine) with separate tabs opened for gaining access to legacy and modern websites.
