Message from CEDARS - Counselling and Person Enrichment

Dear students and colleagues,

This academic year signifies a new era of university education in Hong Kong. With the implementation of the new curriculum focusing on the totality of students’ learning experience, students are expected not only to pursue academic success but also to become inquisitive learners, inter-cultural communicators, and community advocates who are willing to contribute to the betterment of society.

CEDARS-Counselling and Person Enrichment (CoPE) supports students’ total learning experience by offering a wide range of activities. Here are the highlights for your information.

(1) Person Enrichment Workshops

These are interactive workshops for enhancing students’ intellectual excellence, social proficiency and emotional competence. Over twenty topics related to time management, social intelligence, relationships, mental health, self-understanding and lifestyle were organized. Please visit here for details.

Workshop registration will begin at 9:00am on 25 September 2012 in Room 420, Meng Wah Complex. Click here for registration procedures.

(2) Pathfinding: Exhibition on Learning Opportunities at HKU

Date: 26-27 September 2012 (Wed – Thurs)
Time: 12:00 nn – 3:30 pm
Venue: Sun Yat-sen Place
(Jointly organised with the Academic Advising Office)

(3) First Year Seminars

Seminar 1: Living in a Multilingual Environment (3 October 2012, 6:30 pm to 8 pm)
Seminar 2: Connecting with the University and Students (9 October 2012, 6:30 pm to 8 pm)
Seminar 3: Goal-directed Time Management for University Success (16 October 2012, 6:30 pm to 8 pm)

(4) Peer English Tutoring and "Survival Cantonese" – Details will be announced next week.
