Centennial Campus Updates
15 Sep 2012 - 29 Sep 2012
Dear students and colleagues,
After years of hard work by all parties both within and outside the University, I am pleased to report to you that the Centennial Campus is ready in general for the new academic year. However, there are still some ongoing minor works.
We have experienced some teething problems in the past few months, including the presence of Legionella bacteria and issues of Indoor Air Quality. Concerning the Legionella bacteria, following our chemical disinfection exercise in late August, we have tested water samples from the three buildings and no bacteria were detected in any sample. Concerning formaldehyde, I am pleased to report that all lab test results in the past month indicate either ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ Class.
There was a fire alarm on the morning of 13th September and it was confirmed to be a vandalism incident. We have reported this to the Police.
The new campus consists of three new buildings (Cheng Yu Tung Tower, Run Run Shaw Tower and Jockey Club Tower) and a large Central Podium (CPD) which may take you some time to be familiar with. Below are some useful tips:
- Access to Centennial Campus from Pokfulam Road
The quickest way is to reach 4/F Haking Wong Building first and go along the new University Street. The following link shows the access routes from both sides of Pokfulam Road:
- Access to classrooms of Centennial Campus
Please click the following link of the floor plans and PRINT them out BEFOREHAND. LIMITED copies will be distributed at the LG/F of Centennial Campus.
Please note that the carpark within the Centennial Campus will not be open for staff use until further notice.
We will deploy security guards, staff and student helpers around the Centennial Campus to provide assistance. However, you are advised to start your journey early in the first week of semester to allow time for possible traffic jams and the need to navigate the new campus.
We believe it will take you some time to be familiarized with the new classrooms, facilities and offices of the new campus. We appreciate your understanding and tolerance of any inconvenience and please email to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any comments.
