Direct Admissions Scheme

(For final-year students/graduates of Associate Degree/Higher Diploma programmes only)

Thank you for your interest in our University.

Application for admission in September 2010 through the Direct Admissions Scheme has been closed. Updated information for entry in September 2011 will be available at around November 2010.


Eligibility

To be eligible for admission under the Direct Admissions Scheme, candidates should be graduates of recognised full-time Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programmes in Hong Kong which should be of at least two years in duration. Final-year students on such programmes can also apply and their applications will be considered subject to their completion of the programme. Sub-degree qualifications from overseas institutions would be considered on a case-by-case basis.

For admission to the BSc and BSocSc programmes, applicants should be AD or HD graduates in the related discipline.  For the BA and the BSc(IM) programmes, sub-degree graduates from all disciplines are eligible.

(The following categories of applicants should apply through the Non-JUPAS Admissions Scheme instead:

  • Associate Degree / Higher Diploma graduates / students who are interested in programmes other than those listed under Programme Information below;
  • Applicants who are currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree programme in a tertiary institution and would like to transfer to this University; and
  • Applicants who would like to apply for direct entry to 2nd year based on qualifications other than Associate Degree / Higher Diploma)


Programme Information

The following programmes have set aside a certain number of 2nd year student places for direct entry by sub-degree (i.e. Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD)) graduates:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in the streams of: Chinese Language and Literature, Comparative Literature, Cross-Cultural Studies in English, English Studies, Fine Arts, History, Language and Communication, Linguistics, Music and Philosophy
     
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Management (BSc(IM))
     
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in: Astronomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Ecology and Biodiversity, Environmental Science, Food and Nutritional Science, Mathematics, Physics, Mathematics/Physics, Microbiology, Risk Management, and Statistics
     
  • Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSc).


Programme Choice

You are allowed to choose up to 5 programmes under the Direct Admissions Scheme. While you should include at least one 2nd year programme, you can also include normal 1st year programmes among your choices if you so wish.


Application Fee and Deadline for Application

The application fee is HK$300 for on-line application and HK$700 for paper application.

The deadline for application is February 1, 2010.


Application Status

You will be able to check the status of your application through our online enquiry system in April 2010.
